Reflecting on One Year One Painting A Day

2012 has come to an end and I have decided not to continue this project this year. I know I will miss doing it because art makes me happy and I had so much fun doing this blog. While writing this, I am actually thinking whether it would be possible to maybe start another art blog that doesn't require daily posts and will enable me to discover new painters as well. I think the absolute most fun thing about this blog was discovering new artists and paintings. It has been frustrating at times, because the date on the calendar had to match the date of birth or death of the artist and sometimes it wasn't very easy to find a painting I liked. In this last post I want to give you a small list of painters that I have discovered through this blog and who have become favourites (please click on the name of the artist to link you to the blog post):

The list could go on and on.

Although selecting a painting could be time consuming, I spent more time writing the accompanying text. I feel this blog isn't complete without it, so I still need to write the text for the posts of June & July (when I was in Peru), November (when I was doing NaNoWriMo, the novel writing month) and December (when I was just being busy with holidays and work). So I owe you that and it should keep me busy for some time. I want to thank all of you for taking the time to visit the daily paintings and hope you have discovered new painters and paintings as well. If I decide to do another art blog, I will let you know and provide you with the link here.

One last time (it is weird but it really feels like saying goodbye):

For today's post I chose the painting The Wedding Dress by an English painter unknown to me, Frederick William Elwell, born on 29 June 1870 and died on 3 January 1958. I think it is beautiful and sad. See you next time!

  1. Laurie, I'm not sure what you'd think of it, but I've found a lot of paintings on your blog that are great for mine as well! Like you, I enjoy finding new artists, whether or not they make it onto my blog. If you'd ever be interested in contributing some posts to ShapelyWomen.blogspot.com or being a joint editor, just let me know...
